Coffee chain Starbucks encouraged its customers to abandon the familiar ingredients for the sake of the environment. In return they offer the traditional milk to add to coffee vegetable counterparts, according to Bloomberg. The company stressed that, for example, making whipped cream for coffee causing the planet more harm than flying a private jet.
The Agency indicates that it is the production of dairy products has become a major source of carbon emissions in the company’s activities. Starbucks said that about 20 percent of the customers of coffee shops have already switched to alternative milk. By 2030 the company want to reduce by half carbon dioxide emissions and the amount of garbage sent to landfills.
According to Euromonitor, the global market for dairy alternatives in 2019 exceeded $ 18 billion (an increase of 3.5 percent compared to 2018). The share of traditional milk market is still dominated — it is just under $ 120 billion. Sales of cow’s milk reduced over the last four years, and, for example, oat milk over the past year, jumped 36 percent to 53 million dollars.
