Government Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Dubilet was named the estimated number who left the country’s citizens, according to “Strenia”.
“Where some 3.8 million people over the last ten years. These are the people that never came back because they left to work or for any other reason is an open question. Is open statistics,” said Dubilet at the briefing dedicated to the results of e-census.
In this case, calling the figure, the official noted that, “apparently, do not need to quote, because it’s not right.”
In December Ukraine held electronic census using data of mobile operators, sociologists, public registers and the pension Fund. It turned out that the country’s population of almost 38.3 million people, not including inhabitants of the Crimea and the unrecognized republics of the Donbass. As causes of population decline, the authorities called “occupation” of these territories, the predominance of deaths over births and emigration over immigration. According to the last census of the Soviet Union held in 1989 in the Ukrainian SSR lived 51.7 million people.
