The Russians topped the rating of real estate in Montenegro in the period from January to October 2019. Mina reported, citing Central Bank of Montenegro.
Of all, Russian citizens bought property worth about 33 million euros to 2.3 billion rubles. Second place was taken by the Serbs, 14.7 million euros (about one billion roubles), the third — the Turks (10.3 million Euro or 706,4 million).
Also in the top five foreign investors became Americans (nine million euros or 617,3 million) and the Germans (8.1 million euros or 555,5 million).
The popularity of Montenegro is associated with the economic citizenship program, which launched October 1, 2019. The portal Prian writes that the new status has been given to at least four investors. However, the Montenegrin authorities have not yet disclosed information about their nationality.
By the end of 2018, the majority of real estate transactions in Montenegro concluded by non-residents of the country, also fell on the share of Russian citizens.
