The first Russian start-up 2020 of the rocket of space appointment, scheduled for January 24, was postponed at least a day. The start was prevented by one of three reasons, reported by TASS, citing a source in the rocket and space industry.
According to the source, start from Plesetsk rocket “Soyuz-2.1 a” with the upper stage “Fregat”, which was put into orbit military satellite connection in the Arctic “the Meridian-M”, delayed due to problems with the carrier, failure of the upper stage or the “failure of the ground launch complex”.
The source said that “the command to cancel the start was given in the district 09:00, that is, several hours before the estimated time of launch.”
According to RIA Novosti, which refers to its sources, the problem caused by the operation of the launch complex No. 3, the first launch from which, after prolonged repairs, held in December 2019, has also been postponed.
In January, the European global satellite operator Eutelsat announced that the telecommunications satellite Eutelsat 5 West B, launched in October 2019 Russian rocket “proton-M” from Baikonur cosmodrome (Kazakhstan), lost half of its capacity.
