Several countries that support warring factions in Libya has violated the agreement that was reached by the participants of the international conference in Berlin. About it reports Reuters with reference to the statement of the UN Mission to support Libya.
We are talking about the violation of the embargo on arms supplies to the country. The world organization indicated that over the last ten days in the Libyan airports landed many planes with weapons and armor. “The mission condemns these continuing violations, which could plunge the country into a reinforced round of combat”, — said there.
What specific countries have violated the embargo, is not specified.
International conference on the settlement of the situation in Libya was held in Berlin on January 19. In negotiations took part the leaders of Russia, Germany, France, UK, Turkey, Egypt, and UN Secretary-General, head of the European Commission and representatives of other international organizations. Following the conference, the parties agreed on a final document, involving the solution of some problems in Libya. In addition, a decision was taken to impose an embargo on arms supplies to the conflicting parties and the enhanced monitoring of the implementation of that decision.
The military operation of international forces in Libya lasted from March to October 2011. The result was overthrown by the country’s leader Muammar Gaddafi. Then the civil war began, part of the territory was captured by the radical Islamists. As a result, the country has two governments: in the East in the city of Tobruk, sits a Parliament elected by people. In the West in Tripoli has set with the support of the UN and Western countries, the national consensus government.
