Russia’s victory in world war II should be reflected in the new version of the Constitution, said a member of the working group on Constitution amendment, Senator Alexei Pushkov. It was quoted by RIA Novosti on Monday, January 27.
In his opinion, the Constitution needs to be fixed “crucial historical point for our state.”
Earlier the presidential bill on amendments to the Constitution passed in the state Duma in the first reading. The main proposals for change the head of state Vladimir Putin announced during an address to the Federal Assembly on 15 January. Each initiative will be submitted for a nationwide vote that may pass in the spring of this year. In the case of the predominance of negative reviews of the changes will not be introduced.
Among the possible changes is the extension of the powers of the state Duma, the priority of Russian laws over international law, the stricter requirements for presidential candidates.
