The Russians may want to change the format of the celebration of Victory Day. Citizens are traditionally considered the occasion important, but many of them were dissatisfied with excessive militaristic bias and pomposity of events on this day. This is evidenced by the results of the research Institute for applied political studies higher school of Economics, reports “Kommersant”.
In addition, it turned out that many Russians know public holidays not by name, but by a calendar date, as the respondents see it as an additional weekend without thinking about meaning. The only exception was the Victory Day.
Of the respondents expressed an opinion about the redundancy of the emotions of the countrymen. They criticized these labels the machines as “1941-1945, can you repeat that” or “To Berlin!”, the excessive enthusiasm of the celebration, militaristic bias and pomposity of events.
According to the researchers, the authorities will soon have to change the military bias of festive events to keep the holiday a symbol of unity. So, the younger generation would prefer to see the historic reconstruction of the Victory Parade in 1945, to honor the memory of relatives who fought, but did not see the demonstration of the military potential of the country, believe in HSE.
