Millions of processors that Intel was under threat of hacking because of the new vulnerability. For its existence drew the attention of the publication TechPowerUp.
Vulnerability CacheOut allows you to access data stored in the cache memory of the processor. Under the threat of third-party penetration is directly core, and therefore, vulnerability can bypass all the hardware of the security system. Using CacheOut malware instead of waiting for the interest of the data controller may choose their own from the cache L1.
Intel has already responded to the threat by publishing a list of vulnerable to the attack of the processors. Among them was the Intel Xeon processor Scalable of the first and second generations based on the Skylake architectures and Cascade Lake, the sixth generation of chips Intel Core and Intel Xeon processors based on the Skylake architecture, seventh and eighth generation of processors Intel Core-based architectures and Coffe Kaby Lake and other models. TechPowerUp added that the vulnerability in AMD processors is not detected.
To correct the problem, Intel released a microcode update and published recommendations for suppliers of the OS. The newspaper reported that in the near future, operating system vendors needs to issue security updates.
In may 2019 the Intel vulnerability was discovered ZombieLoad. The attackers used four errors in the microcode of the Intel chip for data theft. Essentially a vulnerability was reminiscent of Meltdown and the Spectre, discovered in 2018.
