Russian reusable single stage rocket “Crown”, a project that exists only on paper, allows for the possibility of orbital refueling, reported “Interfax”, leading engineer-designer of the State rocket center (SRC) Makeyev (Chelyabinsk oblast) Alexander Vavilin.
In an interview with the Agency, the developer said that this is possible in orbital flight when docking two “Crowns” and the subsequent overflow of fuel from one rocket to another. Vavilin noted that this procedure, each host receives the docking station with the docking feature-filling unit.
“The rocket will work as if in dual mode — both the “brain” solve one problem. Once refueled, disconnects and sit down” — said a leading engineer-constructor.
In January, RIA news, referring to the materials of Rocket-space Corporation (RKK) “Energy” (part of “Roscosmos”), announced that the heavy rocket “Angara-A5”, is designed to test the emergency rescue system promising lunar spacecraft “eagle” (formerly the “Federation”), during the flight it is proposed to destroy.
The development of the “Crown” SSC Makeeva (included in the “Roskosmos”) has been engaged in the initiative more than 20 years. Under the project, the media is designed to launch into orbit more than seven tons of payload, then allow a controlled descent to the Ground.
SSC has no experience building rockets for space applications. Among the major developments of the center — ballistic missiles R-29RMU2 “Sineva” and RS-28 “Sarmat”. In the last decades of the last century, the SSC worked on ballistic missile sea-based “Bark” that can break the ice at the start, all three trials which was unsuccessful.
