US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo reminded about the conditions for lifting the sanctions against Russia. He wrote this after his meeting with Ukrainian foreign Minister Vadym Prystayko in his Twitter.
“Our sanctions will remain in place as long as the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine will not be restored,” he said. He added that Washington welcomed the efforts of Kiev to bring peace to the Donbass and urges Moscow to respond in kind.
Earlier, the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has demanded from Moscow to fulfill the Minsk agreements, as well as to return Crimea to Kiev. PACE also urged Moscow to “put an end to the military intervention (…) in the East of Ukraine.”
Crimea joined Russia in the spring of 2014 the referendum. The results of the voting do not recognize Kiev, the US and the EU, considering the Peninsula occupied territory. Moscow insists on the observance of international law.
