Russia will finish building the gas pipeline “Nord stream-2” in violation of American sanctions. This promise was made by Russian Deputy foreign Minister Alexander Pankin, RIA Novosti reported.

“The Russian foreign Ministry intends to contribute [to completion],” he said. According to the Deputy Minister, the pipeline against the US sanctions, direct intervention in the Affairs of European businesses.

Pankin noted that Washington does not care about the energy security of the European Union, and seeks to “push” the sale of its gas on the market. Deputy foreign Minister added that this is an example of unfair competition.

February 4, Washington spoke about the intention to introduce new sanctions against the pipeline. It is assumed that the sanctions can get European investors involved in the project, as well as those firms who want to buy gas, if it goes through the pipeline.

USA in the end of 2019, imposed sanctions against the “Nord stream-2” and participants in the construction of the pipeline. This led to the fact that the Swiss company Allseas withdrew the ship-the pipe layer. As a result of construction work stopped, and the commissioning of the infrastructure in operation is moved.

Originally intended to launch the project before the end of 2019. However, according to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, due to limitations in terms of commissioning transferred at the end of 2020 — early 2021.
