A former fighter SOBR of the Belarusian Yuri Garevski, who in December publicly confessed to involvement in assassinations of opponents of President Alexander Lukashenko, asked for political asylum in Switzerland. On Tuesday, February 11, reports Deutsche Welle.
Garevski said that he sees no reason to hide your location, because it can calculate. “Most likely, it already did,” he said.
Ex-SWAT fighter claims that is ready to be punished for their crimes, but wants to be tried in Europe, and not at home. In Switzerland, Garevski fears and does not exclude that his “coming to kill”. “But still you have a chance to survive,” he said. In Switzerland the former sobrovets arrived in October 2018.
In December 2019 Garevski in an interview with Deutsche Welle said that in 1999-2003 participated in the kidnapping of the former Minister of internal Affairs of Belarus Yury Zakharanka, the former head of the Central election Commission Viktar Hanchar and businessman Anatol Krasouski. This was done by order of the Creator of the SWAT Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Pavlichenko, who personally killed the representatives of the Belarusian opposition. In 2000, Pavlichenko was arrested on suspicion of involvement in disappearances of Lukashenka’s opponents, but then released, and together with Gaevskim they burned the materials of the case.
Lukashenko denies any involvement in the disappearance of opposition. “Why do I need it? Why? What has changed that was not in Belarus two or three people?” he said.
