Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko revealed the details of the process of signing February 12, 2015 the second of the Minsk agreements on the settlement of the conflict in the Donbass. He told about it in an article written for publication “Ukrainian truth”.
Poroshenko called night talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and the then President of France Francois Hollande and cancella of Germany Angela Merkel, one of the worst of his life. “But [it was] crucial in order to hobble the aggressor,” — said the ex-President.
The ex-President said that the Minsk agreement gave Ukraine “precious time” for the development of the army, overcoming the social crisis, as well as strengthening the international coalition against Russia.
Earlier, the representative of Ukraine in the working sub-group on political issues of the Trilateral contact group Alexey Reznikov said the desire of Kiev to change the Minsk agreement.
In February 2015 the leaders of Germany, France, Ukraine and Russia agreed on a document known as Minsk agreement. It was also signed by representatives of the OSCE and the breakaway Donetsk and Lugansk national republics. According to the agreement, the warring parties in the Donbass obliged to cease hostilities. Kiev has pledged to carry out political reforms and to grant the region special status.
