The Russians have found and removed the liposarcoma weighing almost 12 pounds. A feature of this tumor is the ability to masquerade as fat, reports the Agency “Moscow” with reference to the press service of “SMRC radiology” of Ministry of health of Russia.
Surgery to remove a liposarcoma lasted 12 hours. The patient the operation was the sixth. The first time he was operated on in 2011. The operation was conducted by the Oncology Institute named after Herzen in Moscow.
“The patient came to the Institute in a critical condition, the tumor was so big that it squeezed the arteries, the gastrointestinal tract, cutting off the natural food. The disease steadily progressed”, — quotes Agency the message of the institution.
The patient is in intensive care. Soon he plans to transfer to the ward.
Informed surgeons of the Blokhin cancer center in Moscow removed the four-month-old girl a liver tumor, comprising a fifth of its weight. As told by the surgeon Polad Kerimov, the tumor was growing and at any moment could be formed metastases or tumor could rupture and the baby would have died.
