Members of the working group on preparation of proposals on introducing amendments to the Constitution proposed to enshrine in the basic law the status of culture as heritage of the multiethnic nation, as well as its support and protection. With the corresponding initiative was made by the General Director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, writes TASS.
At a meeting of representatives of the working group for preparation of amendments, which was attended by President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Piotrovsky said that the Russian culture is absolutely a worldwide recognizable symbol of the nation, “DNA of the nation and our constant competitive advantage.”
“Our experience of life after 1993 showed that state protection of the culture is the thing that you need to say and carry out. Then, written in the Constitution, it will provide us with culture as the basis of self-esteem of the whole nation,” he said.
Proposals of the head of the Hermitage has agreed the head of state. According to Putin, Piotrovsky said very rightly that culture is the DNA of the nation, and promised to think about how to do it.
