The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South Korean Corporation Samsung, the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, has resigned. Lee sang-Hoon left the post after the verdict in the case of hindrance of trade Union activities, reports TASS.
The Board of Directors of the Corporation to appoint a new Chairman in the near future. Samsung “beheaded” two months later, after Lee sang-Hoon was appointed 18 months of imprisonment.
In addition to his charges put forward against 31 officers, the punishment appointed 25 employees. They used personal information about the members of the trade unions to reduce their impact.
Prior to this, 9 Dec 2019, Vice President of Samsung and two other officials was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison for financial fraud.
Earlier, in 2017, Vice-President of Samsung Electronics and de facto head of Samsung Group Lee Jae-Yong was sentenced to five years in prison for bribery, embezzlement, concealment of illegal income, the illegal transfer of funds abroad and perjury. The case was the result of a major political crisis in South Korea, during which President Park Geun-Hye removed from power for the pressure on firms with the requirement to transfer money to the nonprofit foundations.
