Russian sports journalist Dmitry Guberniev believes that biathlete Evgeny Ustyugov in danger of losing the gold medal won at the Games in Vancouver in 2010. His words leads “CHempionata”.
“The Ustyugov was the abnormal performance of the passport of blood, now we run the risk of losing his gold medal in the mass start at the 2010 Olympics! Well, what is it, how much can you get on the same rake?! We were sitting in the cheap dope, Ustyugov used Oxandrolone, an anabolic steroid, and it’s for six months prior to the Games!” — said province. He called the situation with Ustyugov monstrous.
Previously, on 15 February it became known that Ustyugov was convicted of violating antidoping rules. The results of Russian biathletes from March 2013 to the end of the season 2013/2014 was cancelled. In particular, he was stripped of his gold in the relay at the Games in Sochi. The Russians have 21 days to appeal the verdict with the court of arbitration for Sport (CAS). If Ustyugov will not be able to challenge this decision, the Russian team will lose first place in the medal standings at the end of the Sochi Olympics.
The investigation against the Russians began in 2018. Besides Ustyugov, suspicion fell 64 Russian biathlete.
