Canada demanded that Iran urgent compensation to the families of the victims of the crash of a Boeing 737-800 near Tehran. The CBC said the foreign Minister of Canada, françois-Philippe champagne.
Champagne met with the Minister of foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif at a security conference in Munich, Germany. At a press conference after the meeting, he said he conveyed to the Iranian Minister of urgent requirements to pay compensation in accordance with international standards. He added that the amount of compensation should be the same for everyone. “We will judge Iran by its actions, not according to him,” added the canadian Minister.
Earlier in February, canadian lawyers filed a class action against the Iranian authorities with the requirement to pay 1.5 billion canadian dollars (1.1 billion U.S. dollars) for the deaths of their fellow citizens on the plane, “International airlines of Ukraine”.
On 2 February it was reported that Ukraine wanted from Iran is increasing the compensation to the families of the victims of the crash Boeing. Iran offered to pay 80 thousand dollars (about 5 million) compensation, but Ukraine refused.
Boeing 737-800 “Ukraine International airlines” crashed, taking off from Tehran airport early in the morning on 8 January. Killed 176 people, among them citizens of Iran, Ukraine, Canada, UK, Germany, Sweden and Afghanistan and nine crew members. 11 January, Iran admitted it mistakenly shot down the plane.
