NATO is helping Lithuania to effectively “deter” Russia, said the President of the Baltic Republic Gitanas Nausea. This writes Sputnik Lithuania with reference to the administration of the President.
Nausea noted that the country failed “to effectively deter Russian threat” without the help of the United States and other NATO allies. According to the President, Lithuania is a need for maximum training of the forces of the Alliance. He also pointed to the importance of continuous learning and participation in the joint Lithuanian armed forces maneuvers of NATO troops.
In December last year at the NATO summit, Russia has called a more serious threat than international terrorism and cybercrime.
Also in may 2019, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke about plans to introduce a new military strategy of “Russian threat”. “We are talking about full readiness for defense, and ability to maintain stability in the future. Sometimes it requires a new military concept,” he said. This step he justified the nuclear threat that Russia allegedly uses against the West.
