The U.S. will spend a billion dollars to fight Europe’s dependence on Russian gas. This was announced by the US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo at the Munich security conference, writes AFP.
“Through the U.S. Corporation for financing international development and supported by the American Congress, we intend to provide one billion dollars for financing of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, within the Initiative of the three seas,” said Pompeo.
He also said that the aim of Washington stimulate private investment in the energy sector of Central and Eastern European countries.
“The initiative of the three seas” — an international group that includes 12 States of the European Union, whose territory has access to the Adriatic, Baltic and Black seas.
