Deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Yulia Kovaliv advised citizens to keep the Windows closed to save on heating. With these words she acted in the program “Freedom of speech with Savik Shuster”.
Koval advised the Ukrainians to install in their houses counters of heat and thus not to overpay during the warm winter. According to her, in order that the apartment was not hot, people open the window, thereby “throwing money out the window”.
“I agree with the mayor of Nikolaev, he says, we have installed individual heating units. Here was the heat, the temperature in December plus five, so it is not necessary to open the Windows. We cannot be in the apartments at 27-30 degrees and for all this we pay”, — concluded the politician.
In September 2019, the Director of energy programs of Center for world economy and international relations of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Valentin Zemlyansky came to the conclusion that citizens refuse to gas heating in favour of wood. According to him, the refusal of the population from gas is not a transition to alternative sources of heat, as a result of the continuing decline of living standards.
