Belarus has purchased 160 thousand tons of Russian oil, TASS reported with reference to Belneftekhim concern, who acted as the buyer.
The transaction price was not disclosed, however, stresses that it does not include a premium, the presence of which in the long-term contract with Russian companies had previously caused discontent of Minsk.
The current deal was concluded on the futures market includes the purchase of Russian oil traders — what exactly, is unknown. Delivery will be made in March through the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda, where fuel arrives by tanker.
At the same time, the representative of “Lithuanian Railways” announced that the delivery will be made with the participation of trading “Belarusian oil company”.
According to the representative of “Belneftekhim”, the Russian oil company could make money by selling directly more than paid the Belarusian concern.
The last three years Belarus has purchased 24 million tons of Russian oil annually, six million of which are re-exported, enrolling in their budget export duties. However, 2019 is being implemented in Russia’s tax maneuver in the oil industry. By its terms, by 2024, will be gradually zeroed export duties on oil and petroleum products and simultaneously increased the tax on extraction of mineral resources.
The maneuver will lead to the fact that the fuel price for Belarus, which in the status of the EEU member buys it without export duties will rise to world average excluding transportation costs. At the end of last year Moscow and Minsk have failed to agree on prices of supply in new conditions. Since the beginning of January the Central supply stopped, partly they were replaced by a single supply from group companies “Safmar” Mikhail Gutseriev.
