Russian supermarket chain Lenta has changed the jurisdiction: instead of the current offshore in the British virgin Islands company registered in the former offshore company in Cyprus, reports TASS.
“The Department of registration and liquidation of companies (DRCOR) today issued the company a certificate of temporary registration in Cyprus. The result of the entry into force of the transfer to another jurisdiction, the company became known as Lenta PLC, a public company with limited liability registered in accordance with the laws of Cyprus, at 6 Karaiskaki Street, City House, 3032 Limassol, Cyprus,” — said in the message.
In the future, Lenta intends to issue permanent registration in Cyprus. For this she will need to obtain documents confirming the termination of activities in the British virgin Islands.
Until the beginning 2000-x years Cyprus was considered a full-fledged offshore, however, after joining the European Union in 2003 the country was forced to abandon the previous policy and to cancel almost all the tax breaks.
