A bill to increase penalties for drug propaganda on the Internet, has prepared the Duma Committee on security. This was announced by the head of the Committee Vasily Piskarev, reports RIA Novosti.
Lower threshold of liability for such breach is proposed to be set at 12 years of imprisonment. Piskarev explained by the fact that the Internet significantly increases the degree of social danger of the act. In his opinion, the amendments will help to combat the sale of drugs online.

In January, the state Duma was introduced a bill on fines up to 1.5 million rubles for the propaganda of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances on the Internet. The discussion of this initiative was intensified in the government after “Tape.ru” special project “Russia under the drug”.
At the moment the maximum punishment under article 230 of the Criminal code of Russian Federation (“rendering opportunity for consumption of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues”) provides till 15 years of imprisonment.
