Minsk knows about the scenario of the exercise, NATO’s preemptive nuclear strike at Belarus, while the Republic declared itself a nuclear-free country. This was during a round table on the role of the Organization of collective security Treaty (CSTO) in the security in the Caucasus region, told the Belarusian Ambassador to Armenia Igor Nazaruk, RIA Novosti reported.
According to him, Minsk brought strategic nuclear weapons in all its forms, including the dismantling mines and other launch facilities. “I am worried that the intensified NATO exercises in the vicinity of Russia and Belarus”, — he said.
Nazaruk added that the Belarusian authorities have noticed the deployment of specific forces, are missile defense elements under the pretext of fighting “the so-called Iranian nuclear threat.” “When there is no threat to NATO, rather than reduce their activity, NATO on the contrary it increases. It’s very disturbing,” — concluded the diplomat.
In February, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the number of challenges and threats to border security of the Republic is not reduced. According to him, the borders of the Republic increased military activity in neighboring States. “While Belarus never threatened and threatening is not going in the sphere of economy and in military sphere”, — he told.
In December 2019, the Belarusian leader signed a new defense plan of Belarus and the concept of development of the armed forces of the country in the next ten years.
