Russia questioned the usefulness of France and Germany for talks on Syria

Russia is not clear, participation of France and Germany in negotiations with Turkey over the conflict in Syria. The usefulness of such a format of discussions questioned the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, RIA Novosti reported.

“Connecting with other countries, especially countries that, frankly, I can’t say has played any decisive role in the situation on the ground, the question arises: what it is, such a connection necessary?” Zakharova said at a briefing, commenting on consultations between the Russian and Turkish sides.

She stressed that Moscow and Ankara established ways of solving different issues and it is unclear what benefit the country will get from connecting to them representatives of Germany and France.

Earlier on February 27, it was reported that one of the requirements of Turkey in the negotiations with Russia to open airspace Idlib province for the Turkish percussion and reconnaissance drones. According to the Minister of defence of Turkey, the negotiations are progressing and there is hope for their success.

On 24 February it was reported that more than 10 Turkish soldiers were killed in Idlib air strike at the Air and space forces of Russia. Then it became known about violent clashes between militants and government forces in Idlib.

In January-February the Syrian army has occupied nearly half Iglinskiy areas of de-escalation, leaving behind the Turkish observation posts. Promotion of government forces has angered Ankara. Erdogan said that if by the end of February, Syrian troops are withdrawn beyond the line of posts, then the Turkish army will start a military operation. Russia, spoke in support of the actions of Damascus, in Idlib, trying to resolve the situation through negotiations, but so far the parties failed to agree.
