The United States urged Turkey to abandon the s-400 after clashes in Syria

The U.S. permanent representative to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchison urged Turkey to abandon the Russian anti-aircraft missile complexes (AAMS) s-400 in connection with the situation in the Syrian province of Idlib. Her statement is quoted by TASS.

Hutchison was named Washington’s ally of the past and future of Ankara and expressed the hope that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan understands who a reliable partner and who is not. “They see what Russia is. They see that it [Russia] is doing now. If they attack Turkish troops, it should outweigh everything else that happens between Turkey and Russia,” the diplomat added.

Earlier on February 28, the U.S. state Department expressed support for Turkey in conflict with Syria and called for an immediate end to the attacks of the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Russian and Iranian-backed forces. The Ministry also added that considering options of how best to support Ankara “in this crisis”.
