Minsk traditionally bought all the oil for its refineries in Russia. The reason for the policy change was a price conflict that unfolded at the end of last year.
President Alexander Lukashenko has accused Russia of wanting to sell oil to the Republic at prices higher than the world. To remove the contradiction, the parties were able only after radically reducing the cost of raw materials worldwide. Nevertheless, Belarus managed to purchase a batch of Azerbaijani oil delivery via Ukraine.
Final prices at which Russian companies supply oil to Belarus, were not disclosed. The cost of a barrel is four dollars, but buyers will have to pay a premium to the suppliers.
Last week, a source in oil sector of the Republic has said that there is a preliminary agreement on the purchase of oil in Poland. Until the end of the year it is planned to supply 100 thousand tons.
Earlier it became known that Poland fully refused from Russian oil delivery by sea and moved to Saudi. This situation is due to the discounts provided to European customers by the middle East Kingdom.
