The Minister of health of Ukraine Maxim Stepanov warned of an outbreak of tuberculosis in the country, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.
Today, the deficit financing of TB facilities up to 80 percent, said the head of the Ministry of health at a press briefing on April 29. “The consequences will be as follows: for two or three years will get an increase incidence by 30 percent, increased mortality and reduced health-care workers, which will consist of thousands of people,” said Stepanov.
The Minister noted the success of a reformed anti-tuberculosis service in Odessa region. In the region joined the TB hospital, dispensary, sanatorium and district offices into a single service. After 2.5 years of implementation of the pilot project the number recovered has increased 1.5 times, there was a savings. Health workers were laid off, were retrained and employed.
Stepanov previously predicted the collapse of the Ukrainian health care system, saying that because of second phase of health reform, the country might remain without new doctors.
