Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, head of the Libyan national army (LNA), is trying to create in Libya a military dictatorship. On Wednesday, April 29, said the foreign Ministry of Turkey, the Agency Anadolu.
As noted in the foreign Ministry, the statement of the Haftarot on establishing one-man rule in the country testify to his rejection of a political settlement and unwillingness to recognize the results of the Berlin conference on Libya. “There is a disrespect for the peace efforts of the international community and the desire to create in Libya a military dictatorship… no doubt Khalifa Haftar seeks to create the junta regime in Libya,” — said the Turkish foreign Ministry.
It also noted that the actions of the army of the Haftarot and his supporters led to the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Libya. In addition, the Department assured that Ankara will continue to support the “legitimate authorities” of the country and to contribute to the peaceful settlement of the conflict.
Earlier statements of the Haftarot, has also condemned the Russian foreign Ministry. The head of the Ministry Sergey Lavrov said that what is happening is blame on both sides of the conflict, including the head of the national consensus government (NTC) Faiz Sarraj, who refused to negotiate with the Haftarot.
On April 28 it became known that the LDF had announced taking control of Libya. Haftar also said that the action achieved in 2015 Shirinskogo agreement, which resulted in the formation of the NTC, is terminated. The European Union refused to recognize the authority of the field Marshal.
On 19 January in Berlin hosted an international conference on settling the situation in Libya. In negotiations took part the leaders of Russia, Germany, France, UK, Turkey, Egypt, and UN Secretary-General, head of the European Commission and representatives of other international organizations.
According to its results, Sarraj and Haftar promised to adhere to the agreements reached, however, on February 19 strength LNA fired at a Turkish ship in the port of Tripoli controlled by the PNS. Because of this the head of government Faiz Sarraj refused to negotiate with the Haftarot.
In Libya, there are two parallel Executive body: international recognized the NTC and the transitional Cabinet, operating in the East of the country, together with the Parliament and the LDF. In 2011 there began a civil war, was overthrown and killed who ruled the country since 1969, by Muammar Gaddafi.
