Data stuck abroad Russians put up for sale

The list of Russian citizens stuck abroad waiting to export flight home was put up for sale online. On Thursday, April 30, according to a Telegram-channel “Infosecurity”.

As stated in the announcement posted on one of the forums, a list is used for payment of assistance to citizens and contains their personal data, including passport and dates of birth, addresses, telephone numbers, dates of travel abroad, e-mail address and information on Bank cards and current accounts.

For a document containing about 80 thousand lines, unknown requested 240 million dollars (17.5 million rubles). As noted by the author of the channel, the sum is not prohibitive as our database contained information “sufficient for the implementation of a variety of criminal schemes,” including those associated with the means on the cards of Russians.

Thousands of Russian tourists trapped in different countries due to measures taken in connection with the pandemic coronavirus: restrictions on air travel, ads, quarantine and closing borders.

According to Rosaviation, in the period from 20 March to 26 April from abroad returned 172 thousand Russians. About 50 thousand tourists still waiting to return home.
