President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated that the opposition was financed from abroad, and led “anti-state” activities. The head of state held a meeting dedicated to the acquisition and use of foreign gratuitous aid, BelTA has learned.
Lukashenko said that in 2018, the Belarusian government approved a complex of measures on involvement of such assistance over the last three years it amounted to $ 240 million. This intensified Western foundations and associations “on financing the so-called humanitarian projects,” said the Belarusian leader. “You know my position. Not a penny should be spent on destructive activities in the country,” — said Lukashenko, calling to put the use of grant aid under “the strictest control”.
“Humanitarian aid in the time has grown our so-called opposition was better, in fact her activities, anti-state, especially at that time, was financed from abroad in the area of humanitarian assistance,” — said the politician.
In February Belarusian opposition announced mass protests against Lukashenko.
