Spanish farmers and ranchers because of the crisis against the background of the pandemic coronavirus asked Russia for help. Farmers invited Moscow to resume the export of Spanish produce. Appeal directed the Union of farmers and herdsmen of the Autonomous community of Extremadura, the Ambassador of Russia in Spain, published on the website of the organization.
Spanish farmers appealed to the Russian Ambassador in the Kingdom with a request in the coming months to resume the supply of vegetables to the Russian market. The organization explained that in 2020, due to the lack of tourists in the country reduced the volume of consumption of agricultural products.
“The Russians are forced to buy fruit of inferior quality and more expensive [than Spanish], but the producers from Extremadura are ruined because you can’t sell items. Those of us who are not politicians, understand that we must put aside past rivalries and sign a new trade agreement between the EU and Russia for the benefit of both parties”, — the statement says.
In the Russian Embassy farmers asked to send a proposal for EU partners, said the organization. According to TASS, the Union plans to appeal to the government of Spain that raised the issue at the EU level.
Western countries, including member States of the European Union have imposed sanctions against Russia in 2014 because of the situation around the Crimea and Donbass. In response, the Russian side announced of bradenburg, which covers fruits, vegetables, dairy and meat products.
