Russia’s Supreme court called on the election or extension of a measure of restraint to take account of the conduct of quarantine measures in detention centres and remand centres. In this regard, the court may replace the imprisonment in jail to house arrest. This is stated in the published April 30 review of questions of judicial practice.
It is also noted that such measure of restraint as arrest against the accused under article of small weight may be applied only in exceptional cases.
In addition, the Supreme court approved the possibility of conducting interviews, meetings, foreign defendants with an interpreter and consideration of criminal cases in the online mode with application of technologies of video.
Earlier it was reported that during the regime of isolation in Moscow was arrested and sent to detention centres record number of offenders. Most of them are involved in Affairs of drugs, theft, robbery and fraud.
