In the USA estimated the probability of exit of the state from the Treaty on reduction of strategic offensive arms (SNV-3). This was stated by the assistant to the President for national security Robert O’brien, reports TASS.
In his opinion, Washington does not intend to leave the missile Treaty. O’brien stressed that the United States plans to negotiate in good faith with the Russians on nuclear arms control. He added that in the near future Russia and the United States will conduct a full consultation on this issue, and the American side feels “cautious optimism”.
Assistant for national security added that the United States would like to see in the Treaty and China, but first, let’s start negotiations with Russia.
May 21, it was reported the US decision to withdraw from the Treaty on open skies. The President of the United States Donald trump announced that Washington has decided to take this step due to the behavior of Moscow, which allegedly violates the terms of the contract. The us Department of state explained that the decision shall enter into force six months starting Friday, may 22.
The open skies Treaty concluded between the 23 member States of the OSCE in 1992, gives the possibility to participating countries to make the inspection circled each other, observing military activities and compliance with existing treaties in the field of arms control.
The agreement SNV-3 came into force in 2011 and his term expires in February 2021-th. According to the document, the Russian and American sides for seven years, shall endeavour to limit the number of nuclear warheads and strategic delivery vehicles.
