Russian scientists close to creating the first national malaria drugs. It is reported TASS with reference to the Russian scientific Fund.

It is noted that molecular biologists from Russia and Israel has inserted into the genome of chrysanthemum genes of wormwood. Extract of wormwood is able to deal with malaria, however, it only grows within a narrow climatic conditions, from-for what to get from the plant the drug in necessary for broad production volumes impossible.

New transgenic varieties of chrysanthemums can produce molecules of artemisinin, the most effective means for the destruction of Plasmodium falciparum. Currently, scientists grow new sprouts of chrysanthemums and trying to increase the amount of artemisinin in their leaves, as well as to develop a technique for extracting drugs from plants.

The increase in the number of domestic developments and patents for inventions is provided by the national project “Science”, which should be implemented in Russia to 2024. Only its implementation is planned to more than 625 billion rubles. He also suggests the creation of 15 scientific and educational centers of the world level, commissioning research facilities class “magicians” and the formation of an integrated system of training scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel.
