The most difficult phase in the mortality of patients with coronavirus in Moscow is expected in may. This was stated by the mayor Sergey Sobyanin at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin. The broadcast led channel “Russia 24” on YouTube.
According to the mayor, in April and early may, the city had the peak incidence. Now doctors are fighting for the lives of those who became infected in that period. “Most of them rescued. But, nevertheless, the most difficult phase in the lives of these people will be in may,” — said Sobyanin.
He noted that the Moscow authorities have no plans to soften restrictions, stringent requirements for citizens and employers will continue.
During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova also said the expected increase in deaths from the virus in may. She added that the Russian health system has stood the test of a new infection, despite the difficult and gloomy forecasts.
Earlier, Sobyanin said that in the second half of April, the city authorities waited for the deterioration of the epidemiological situation and feared what might happen a humanitarian catastrophe. Such a scenario was avoided thanks to the implementation of the Muscovites restrictions.
