Former owner and head of the construction Corporation of the NGO “Cosmos” Andrei Chernyakov was released from custody. About this “Interfax” said the lawyer Ruslan Koblev.
According to him, the businessman was released from jail in connection with the expiration of a deadline of detention.
Chernyakov is accused of fraud at 17 billion rubles. 22 Nov 2019, he was extradited to Russia from Poland, where he was held in prison for two years awaiting a decision on extradition to the Motherland. Under the law after being extradited Chernyakov could be detained not more than six months, during this period the investigation was completed, he had to indict in the final version and start the familiarization with the case materials. However, the investigator could not get to see Chernyakova, located in special block of SIZO “Matrosskaya Tishina”, because of the quarantine imposed in connection with the pandemic coronavirus infection. In addition, under the regime of self-isolation it is impossible to familiarize with the case more than a thousand victims, says “Kommersant”.
Andrey Chernyakov is accused that received the credit in Bank of Moscow for the completion of the Alabyano-Baltic tunnel, sent part of the funds to other projects, including the construction of the Academy of judo in Zvenigorod, Moscow region. As a result, the loan was not repaid, and debts of the NGO front of the Bank exceeded 30 billion rubles. The businessman fled to London, where he fled to Germany and later went to Poland, hoping to get to Ukraine, but was detained at the airport.
