The EU responded to the US decision to withdraw from the Treaty on open skies (DON). On Friday, may 22, RIA Novosti reported, citing the joint statement of the foreign Ministers of France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Finland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Czech Republic and Sweden.

In a communiqué diplomats noted that the EU regrets the decision of Washington to withdraw from the agreement, although he understands the concerns of the American side in connection with violations of the contract on the part of Russia.

The EU foreign Ministers also pledged to continue to abide by the DON, because the agreement has a “clear value for arms control”.
