Ukraine until 2025 extended the construction of the “wall Yatsenyuk” — defensive fortifications on the border with Russia. This is with reference to data of the State border service said the expert organization StateWatch reports “Strenia”.
The transfer of the delivery of facilities due to funding cuts, the rising cost of construction materials, works and services. Initially, the construction was to be completed in 2018 and later was extended to 2021-th. The expected cost of the project is 4.1 billion.
The project “the Wall” was launched in September 2014, then-Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk. According to the plan of the government, the borders with Russia for nearly two thousand kilometers need to be equipped with anti-tank ditches, watchtowers, signaling means, and the reference points for the border guards. In July 2016 the Verkhovna Rada, Borislav Bereza said that the fence looks like a “garden grille, which will not stop even a wild rabbit.” The Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine has revealed the embezzlement of 100 million USD in the construction of the wall. In early 2019 the contracts for the construction of buildings declared a state secret.
