Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Ryabkov predicted the future of the Treaty on reduction of strategic offensive arms (start-3) in the program “the Big game”, writes RIA Novosti.

According to the politician, the administration of U.S. President Donald trump will allow to expire missile Treaty. “So we should all think about what is the role of the Republican party in the United States, and what is its responsibility for what is happening,” he said.

Ryabkov added that the Republican party of the United States is making every effort to destroy regimes and agreements in the field of arms control. In addition, the politician believes that the administration of the American leader is keen to use Russia to involve in the negotiations, China.

Earlier, the special representative of the President of the United States arms control Marshall Billingsley stated that to extend the start-3 Moscow needs to convince China also to “sit at the negotiating table”. He explained that one of the main problems with the new start Treaty is that it does not participate in Beijing.

The Treaty on the limitation of strategic offensive arms was signed in 2010 by then presidents of Russia and the USA Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama. The agreement came into force in 2011 and his term expires in February 2021-th. According to the document, the Russian and American sides during the seven years pledge to reduce the number of deployed strategic delivery vehicles — Intercontinental ballistic missiles, ballistic missiles on submarines and heavy bombers to 700 units.
