The ROC hoped that the Moscow authorities will soon open the temples for the faithful. This was stated by the head of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk (Alfeyev) of the TV channel “Russia 24”. His words RIA Novosti reported.
According to the Metropolitan, we are talking at least about the opening of churches in the Liturgy time that members could go put the candles, to pray, to submit a note or chat with the priest.
“Already a lot of cars on the streets, many people drive to the subway, has already opened the site, that is to say that the isolation regime fully continues, it is now impossible. And, of course, the faithful ask a fair question: when will be possible to visit the temple?” — said the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The next step, as stated by the Metropolitan, will open the temples for worship with the participation of the congregation. However, may require special rules, such as maintaining the distance between people and limiting the number of members. “The sanitary restrictions will not establish ecclesiastical authority and secular power”, — said the Hierarch.
