Russia beat the record for the number of cases of high air pollution. This is stated in the study by the research service of the international auditing and consulting network Finexpertiza, arrived in edition “Tapes.ru”.
According to the company, for the first quarter of 2020, there were 44 cases of high air pollution. This is 57 percent more than in the same period of 2019. “This is a record figure in the last five years, according to the results of the first quarter average recorded 25 cases of serious contamination”, — noted in the study.
Among the localities most affected by air pollution are specified Ulan-Ude, Rostov-on-don, Chelyabinsk, Minusinsk, Krasnoyarsk, Lesosibirsk, Kansk, the industrial settlement of Chegdomyn, Komsomolsk-on-Amur Abakan, Chernogorsk, Sankt-Peterburg and Kyzyl.
The number of cases of water pollution, by contrast, fell by 30 percent (474 cases in the first quarter of the current year). Extremely high pollution of water bodies is observed in Sverdlovsk, Orenburg, Murmansk, Kurgan, Novosibirsk, Omsk and Tyumen regions, Primorsky and Altai territories, and in the Yamalo-Nenets and Nenets Autonomous districts, Adygeya, Komi Republic and other regions. “High pollution occurred in the river basins of the Amur, Angara, Volga, Dnieper, Yenisei, Irtysh, Kama, Ob’, Terek, Kuban, Tobol, Ural, which is washed several regions of Russia. Also suffered small rivers, lakes and reservoirs of St.-Petersburg, Leningrad, Murmansk, Novosibirsk and Sakhalin regions, Kamchatka and Primorye territories”, — said the Finexpertiza.
The main sources of pollution are referred to specialists of enterprises of metallurgical, mining, petroleum, and pulp and paper industries, as well as enterprises in the sphere of housing and communal services.
