The head of diplomacy of the European Union Josep Borrell described the desired relationship with Russia. His words leads RIA Novosti.
“We must act selectively against Russia on issues that are important to us”, — said the European official. Borrell also stated the need to strike a balance between firmness and sanctions, while applying careful efforts in specific areas, such as energy.
Earlier the General Director of the Russian international Affairs Council (RIAC) Andrey Kortunov said that the crisis caused by the pandemic coronavirus, most likely, will not be able to bring closer the positions of Russia and the EU and to improve their relationship. The analyst does not believe in the easing of sanctions and draws attention to a new round of the information struggle. The small chance for rapprochement Kortunov sees the reluctance of the EU and Russia to agree to a rapid restructuring of international relations in a rigid bipolar U.S.-Chinese system.
