A former employee of the Main intelligence Directorate (GRU) Gennady Kravtsov, convicted of treason, was released from the Mordovian colony. About this RAPSI said the lawyer Ivan Pavlov.
According to him, he was released on may 26.
Former GRU officer sentenced to 14 years in prison in September 2015. The Moscow city court found him guilty under article 275 of the criminal code (“treason”). Later, the Supreme court reduced the sentence Kravtsov, reducing the period to six years.
A criminal case was opened against him due to the fact that he tried to find a job in a Swedish company. Sending a resume was classed as treason as it it is reported on the service in the GRU and confidential information about the spacecraft “Tselina-2”. He Kravtsov, denied the charges and his defense had indicated that he did not receive any remuneration.
He graduated from Military space Academy named after Mozhaisky in St. Petersburg, and then 15 years in the GRU radio engineer. He had access to state secrets. In 2011, he quit, then expired subscription about nondisclosure of state secrets. After his discharge, he worked for several years in different IT companies, and then decided to settle in a foreign company. He was arrested and sent to jail on may 27, 2014.
