Russia announced a temporary inability to travel to Europe, because there is no plan to open external borders. This statement was made by Russia’s permanent representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov, reports RIA Novosti.
“On opening of external EU borders — and it is, I’m interested in our fellow citizens, — speech does not go yet. The EU plans to revisit this issue no earlier than June 15,” — said Chizhov, speaking at a briefing in MIA “Russia today”.
He added that the opening of the borders and air, land and sea communications in the countries of the Schengen zone is expected “no earlier than second half of June, and maybe July,” depending on the developing situation with the pandemic. The envoy added that today the borders are closed on both sides.
Earlier it became known that a number of European countries refused to accept tourists from Russia due to the high prevalence of coronavirus. In particular, this was stated by Montenegro, whose authorities are considering the opening of borders with States, which recorded a maximum of 25 infected on 100 thousand inhabitants.
Before, a similar decision was accepted by Cyprus and Turkey. The head of the Ministry of health of Turkey Fahrettin koca said that the Republic has no plans to take tourists from Russia and other “countries of risk” and will be open for a number of States in stages.
25 may Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin urged Russians to temporarily refrain from trips abroad. The head of government asked the Russians “to take the time to plan a foreign vacation” and spend them within the country.
