Russian military was accused of receiving bribes in return for sending troops to Syria

The Saint-Petersburg garrison military court continued the trial of the major armed forces Nikolai Zaikin, who is accused of taking bribes for sending soldiers to Syria. About it reports “Kommersant”.

As has established a consequence, in the beginning of 2018 Zaikina and senior officer of the armored service management technical support of the Western military district (ZVO), the captain of the 3rd rank Anton Danilovsky instructed to select personnel to travel to Syria. The major decided to take advantage of the situation and created a sustainable group, which received bribes. In this scheme he was involved and Danilov, which was to include candidates in the respective lists. Search troops were engaged in the Zaikin.

Zaikin agreed that for each candidate the number of soldiers, sergeants and warrant officers of the Danilovsky will receive 15 thousand rubles, and for officers — 50 thousand rubles. The money was allocated to the major of the total amount of the bribes. The entire Russian military was thus 340 thousand, 160 thousand of them went to the captain.

The investigation accuses Zaikina organization of receipt of bribes by a group of persons upon a preliminary collusion. Did the military denies his guilt and claims that he was falsely accused accomplice. That, in turn, entered into a pretrial agreement on cooperation with the military Prosecutor after the arrest of the FSB.

The next hearing in the case of major scheduled for may 29. Danilovskiy received two years of imprisonment, and also lost the rank of captain and the right to occupy certain positions. In addition, the court decided to recover from the convicted person equal to the amount of bribes received.
