Russian scientists from Tomsk state University (TSU) will go to an expedition to the Arctic and assess the damage to the permafrost abnormally warm weather this year. About TASS said the press service of the University.

According to researchers, the increase in average temperatures the region in 2020 will severely affect permafrost. To test his hypothesis, at the beginning of August they will go to the South of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous district (YANAO). “Make a model of what can be, if it will constantly happen. Let’s see if we can see some soil signals how permafrost can leave on time” — quoted in the message words of a senior researcher of the laboratory at the University of Sergei L. Loiko.

Scientists noticed changes in the climate and the processes of melting permafrost in the Arctic zone in 2019. Then there was a “green oasis”, appeared on earthworms and other atypical polar lands living beings.

Loyko noted that the warming and greening of steel for Arctic natural processes, but since the 1980-ies climate change and human activities have greatly accelerated them. As a result, now there you can find uncharacteristic for tundra plants, such as poppies and daisies. On the other hand, reduced the number of lichens and moss.

Earlier it became known that the Arctic was established anomalous heat, in some areas, the temperatures rose to plus 30 degrees because of the anticyclone and the warm air from Siberia, where there is also a record warming.
