Prospective Russian unmanned underwater swimming apparatus “Poseidon” will be first launched in the fall of the current year, reports RIA Novosti, citing a source in the military-industrial complex.
According to the source, the start will take place on Board the nuclear submarine “Belgorod”. The source added that “Poseidon” “fully assembled yet, are tests of individual components and assemblies”.
The head of the Center for the study of public applied problems of national security, retired Colonel Alexander Zhilin believes that the drone “with virtually no restrictions may be in a state of combat duty and to perform tasks at any time.”
“It is clear that there are certain risks, when, let, hackers may try to take control. But, talking with our engineers, designers, I came to the conclusion that protection from external interference is enormous,” said the commentator.
In February 2019, the defense Ministry unveiled the first video field tests “of Poseidon”. Then the President of Russia Vladimir Putin said that the media drones will be launched in the spring.
In April 2018 in the UK called weapons project “Status-6”, within which to create “Poseidon” device “judgment day”.
