The EU is closer to a simplified visa regime with Belarus. The relevant documents were approved by the Council of the EU, reads the website of the authority.
It is noted that the Council issued two decisions: the adoption of the rules of the simplified visa regime and readmission agreements with Belarus. It is emphasized that in 2019 nearly 650 thousand citizens of this country requested Schengen visa, which speaks to the growing importance of relations between the parties. “The agreement will strengthen our economic, cultural and scientific relations”, — said the Minister of internal Affairs of Croatia Davor Bozinovic.
The document provides for mutual facilitation of appropriate procedures for the majority of citizens and reduce the visa fee for Belarusians from 80 to 35 euros. Increases the list of grounds for issuing free visas for non-commercial purposes. The decision on visa applications will be accepted a maximum of 10 days. The period of stay of foreigners in Belarus will increase from 90 to 180 days a year. It is expected that the agreement will enter into force on 1 July 2020.
